Project Overview

What your student actually does, step by step — from choosing a pioneer to holding the printed book.

1. Project Overview

"Path to Nobel" is a unique opportunity for you to delve into the life and work of a Nobel-caliber pioneer. Over the next eight weeks, you will research, write, and refine a chapter dedicated to a pioneer of your choice, culminating in the publication of our collective work.

2. Selecting Your Pioneer

Start with the field you care about — medicine, physics, chemistry, economics, anything with pioneers worth writing about. Once you're registered you'll receive a starting list of living pioneers in that field, checked by a mentor, with the ones already covered in earlier volumes marked so you can look past them. Research widely, add names of your own, shortlist three, and settle on one with your mentor.

3. The Path to Nobel Masterclass

Before you write anything, you are taught how. 42 short video lessons across 4 self-paced weeks — about an hour a week, watched whenever your week allows — plus a ten-piece workbook toolkit and the 100-point rubric your chapter is judged against.

Week 1: Choose the Right Pioneer and Question. Turn general ambition into a personally meaningful, researchable chapter project.

Week 2: Research, Approach, and Interview. Build trustworthy evidence, understand the breakthrough, and seek original insight professionally.

Week 3: Write the Chapter as a Human Story. Convert research into an accurate, accessible narrative with a clear through-line and your own voice.

Week 4: Revise, Peer Review, and Publish. Build a repeatable revision process and prepare to contribute responsibly to the shared anthology.

The full curriculum is at pathtonobel.org/curriculum, including a short video of what the lessons look like.

4. Writing Your Chapter

Your chapter is about ten printed pages — 2,000 to 2,500 words including pictures. It tells one person's story: the problem they faced, the obstacle, the turning point, and what changed because of them.

You write it for a bright eighth-grade reader. That does not mean the ideas are simple. It means a reader who is not a specialist can follow the breakthrough without being handed jargon, which is harder than writing it the technical way and is most of what Week 3 of the Masterclass teaches — the hook, the promise you make your reader, the architecture, and when to show a scene rather than summarise it.

You may use up to three high-resolution images, each credited under the picture with its source. Sources are cited in APA style and published on the website rather than printed in the book.

The chapter template and the detailed writing instructions arrive once you are registered.

5. Review and Feedback

  • There is a live session every Friday at 8:00 PM Eastern. Weeks one to four are with Dr. Rao and the whole cohort; at the end of week four you're assigned a mentor, and weeks five to eight are with your mentor and a small group of about five. You can ask your mentor for extra time whenever you need it.
  • You'll receive feedback to help refine your chapter.
  • Should you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.

6. Finalizing Your Chapter

  • Incorporate the feedback and finalize your chapter.
  • Ensure your chapter adheres to the formatting guidelines provided.

7. Desktop Publishing (DTP) and Printing

  • Once all chapters are submitted, they'll be formatted for publication.
  • The final book will be printed and published, marking the completion of the project.
  • Volume 4 goes on sale on Amazon on 25 December. The printed edition follows, and your 10 copies are shipped to your address once printing is complete, in the new year.

8. Time / Duration of the Project

  • Weeks 1–4 — the Masterclass, about an hour a week, alongside the work below
  • Week 1 — choose your pioneer and your guiding question
  • Weeks 2–3 — research your pioneer, and write to them yourself
  • Weeks 4–6 — write your chapter with your mentor
  • Weeks 7–8 — peer review, revision, and the final version
  • After the cohort — your Medium article and promotion
  • printing begins after the Amazon release on 25 December
  • your 10 printed copies arrive in the new year

We are excited to see your contributions and are confident that your work will add significant value to the "Path to Nobel" series. Let's embark on this remarkable journey together!

Best wishes!
